Land Rover is offering four friends the chance to win a space flight with Virgin Galactic

Land Rover and Virgin atlantic have announced that they will be running an adventure video competition from october until the 21st of november, where four lucky winners will be sent on a space flight worth over one million dollars. The competition will see the winners take a one-week trip to the US, where they will undergo three days of training and preparation at the Foster + Partners designed Spaceport America in New Mexico, before taking a Mach 3.5 ride to space in Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo, experiencing out of seat weightlessness and life changing views of planet Earth.

To enter, budding astronauts have been told to upload a short video or image about adventures big and small, from camping weekends and road trips, to climbing mountains. Land Rover posed the questions “What do you consider an adventure in life? What gets your pulse racing? When you enter participants are asked to connect on Facebook, so you can select your most adventurous friends and tag them to join you in space.Land Rover

Land Rover and Virgin Galactic announced a global partnership in April 2014 against the backdrop of SpaceShipTwo, the world’s first commercial passenger-carrying spacecraft, and Land Rover’s new Discovery Vision Concept vehicle. The partnership demonstrates a shared vision of pioneering spirit, technological innovation and sense of adventure, and illustrates a desire to push the boundaries of travel for the next generation.

Land Rover have released a film that shows footage of the test flights undertaken by Virgin Galactic to date, alongside CGI animation of the zero gravity experience. The voiceover provides a step by step account of the planned Virgin Galactic space experience from arrival at Virgin Galactic’s Gateway to Space facility at Spaceport America, to the Mach 3.5 vertical rocket ride into the black sky of space and the return to Earth.
