Lifestyle Magazine welcomes the new Porsche Targa and the return of its legendary 60’s styling
Retro Porches have always been popular with enthusiasts so the new 911 Targa should be a hit as it returns with the contrast colour roof hoop and the dome-shaped wraparound rear window. The legendary Hoop was conceived in 1967 due to concerns that US safety regulations could outlaw full convertible models.
In recent years Porsche had moved away from the classic hoop design and opted for a sliding glass roof on the Targa, but for the new 2014 models they have decided to re instate this popular design. The exterior might have a retro look but Lifestyle was pleased to discover that the inners of the 911 Targa feature the latest technology, speed and performance that drivers have come to expect from Porsche.
The new Targa will be available in two models, a 3.4-litre Carrera 4 and 3.8-litre Carrera 4S. Porsche claims that the 911 Targa 4 fitted with the PDK gearbox and Sport Chrono package has a 0-62mph time of 4.8sec, a top speed of 175mph.
Lifestyle Magazine loves this new take on a retro classic and we can’t wait to see the new 911 Targa in the flesh. Let us know what you think of the new Porsche and what retro super car you would like to see brought back to life.
