ITS CHRISTMASSSSSS… To quote the eponymous words of Slade, and at this time of year it is ALWAYS acceptable to have a few too many -if anything its just polite! Here at Ad Astra Lifestyle Magazine we are rather partial to a snifter of gin and since its coming up to festive soiree time we have very kindly decided to indulge you with a few of our favourite Christmas gin cocktails made with the very finest most luxurious gins! This year the mistletoe isn’t the only one getting hammered!
BRIGHTON GIN:
WHY WE LOVE IT: Angelica, lime and milk thistle are the three main botanicals that make up this zesty and approachable gin. With its distinct citrus and spice notes, it makes the perfect Christmas tipple.
THE RECIPE:
(Recommended by the very maker themselves and corroborated by us!) Heat and imbibe… 700 ml of Apple juice, 140ml of Brighton Gin (half a bottle), 2 cinnamon sticks, The juice of 2 limes, 25ml Cherry Brandy, 100ml Red Vermouth and top off with a slice or two of orange!
CHILGROVE GIN:
WHY WE LOVE IT: Nestled closely to the Ad Astra headquarters we are totally enamoured with this beautiful gin, breathing in the perfume of the Chilgrove breeze. Using an unusual grape base instead of the usual grain, this sophisticated choice uses eleven unique additional botanicals to compose juniper perfection.
THE RECIPE:
The Chilgrove French 75… 2 ounces of Chilgrove Gin, 1 teaspoon of superfine sugar, 1/2 ounce lemon juice, 5 ounces of Armand de Brignac Brut champagne and serve in a swarve Collins glass!
WILLIAM’S CHASE ELEGANT GIN:
WHY WE LOVE IT: The elegance of this gin does not end with its dignified elongated bottle, with such botanicals as liquorice, orange and Bramley apple it makes a fabulous Christmas gin and tastes even better in this tinsel tickler…
THE RECIPE:
Christmas Jam … 50 ml Williams Gin, 20 ml Lemon juice, 5ml Gomme, 2 Barspoons Fortnum and Maisons mulled wine and gold leaf jam, 5 Drops Lavender Bitters, 25ml Sparkling Wine -Serve in a teapot and pour into bone china tea cups in saucers for ultimate festive pizazz!
Well, you knew you were on Santa’s naughty list anyway so why stop now!? Pull out one of these Christmas crackers and let the festive fireworks fly, or if your looking to get your guests as lit as the Christmas tree bring out all three!
