Lotus Take On Superbike Market As They Unveil The C-01

When Lifestyle thinks of the term ‘Superbike’ various manufactures spring to mind such as Ducati, Honda and Yamaha but not Formula 1 giants Lotus. However that is all about to change as the british car manufacturer unveiled their latest creation this week, the C-01 Superbike. This is Lotus first venture into the motorcycle market and it could bet set to take the industry by storm.

Designed by Daniel Simon whose previous work includes Tron: Legacy’s Lightcycle and the Bubble Ship in Oblivion the C-01 looks very different to current bikes on the market, we can see retro cafe racer styling in there somewhere but the Lotus C-01 is rather unique.

The Lotus C-01 not only looks good but its a state of the art power house, the body is built from titanium, carbon fibre and aerospace quality steel with a dry weight of 180kg. The engine is a 1195cc V-twin taken from KTM’s RC8R super bike with a claimed 200bhp. Performance figures haven’t been released yet but from the spec we expect the C-01 to be absolutely rapid.
